Hot water with different ingredients
Asthma is a disease that affects the lungs. The patient experiences severe difficulty in breathing. One of the best things that you can do is to drink hot water. Avoid chilled water altogether and drink hot water whenever possible. To make it more effective, you can mix various ingredients with hot water. Some of the most effective things are a few pinches of turmeric, a teaspoon of cumin, honey or fenugreek seeds. All of these are effective. However, do not add a bit of all in the same concoction. Drink the water when it is hot and before it comes down to being just warm. Hot water with these medicinal ingredients clears the airways and provides relief from the problem.
Eat foods that are rich in vitamin B6 and B12
Vitamin B6 and B12 are great for providing relief from asthma. You can include these foods in all your meals and snacks. Since there are many foods that are rich in these vitamins, you will still have a lot of variety. Some of the foods that are rich in these vitamins are cereals, beans, fish, starchy vegetables and non-citrus fruits. However, do not eat these foods excessively because excess of these vitamins is undesirable for the body. These vitamins are also found in eggs, red meat, dairy products and mollusks. You should avoid these foods since the other nutrients contained in them are not desirable for asthma condition.
Ironically, caffeine content present in coffee helps in melting down the fats in airways and clearing lungs. You can have a couple of cups of coffee per day. If you feel an attack coming, a quick cup of steaming hot coffee can provide a lot of relief. In fact, besides hot water, coffee is the only drink that should be consumed during an attack. Also, coffee is known to be a stimulant. So, it stimulates the lungs and makes them perform better. However, you should avoid too much of sugar, completely avoid cream and milk. Bitter black coffee is the best asthma remedy.
Hot ginger tea
Hot ginger tea can work wonders on an asthmatic person. To make the drink more effective, you can add a few crushed pods of garlic in the drink. Drink when the tea after it cools down a bit but not after it cools down completely. Ginger and garlic are both very strong medicinally. One cup of ginger tea with garlic can be very helpful.
